Concepts of Constructive Tool
Generally, they are tools that are used to evaluate and construct knowledge or one's understanding as well as manipulating pre-existing information.
The purpose of these tools are mainly to construct or connect new information to their prior knowledge which becomes a learner centered instruction.
Q. Why and How do we integrate constructive tool into classroom learning?
Before a learner can move on to a new concept or level they need to be proficient and have clear understanding, where they should be able to connect and analyze topics and data. Integrating Constructive tools into our classroom learning enables the students to make connections and visualize the relationships between concepts. when the students have to manipulate and reconstruct their ideas and knowledge they become independent learners which allows them to be intrinsically motivated and think critically. Overtime they can easily construct and make connections between various concepts and ideas thoroughly.
It can be integrated in the classroom through various ways such as construction of simulation lesson using power point, desktop publisher program to organize and present the ideas in attractive formats that will allow students to focus effectively, we can also create simple webpage using google sites to share and present ideas for instance google slides.
Use of application software such as word document, excel, ppt, and mind maps are good examples of constructive tools.
1. C-Map or Concept map.
This constructive tool allows users to brainstorm and to visualize their understanding of relationships among a collection of concepts. The image below is a concept mapping of Digestion, it shows connection between attributes or vital body parts and the components which are the enzyme it releases with its action on the food substances.
